Medusa Pendant

Design Concept
“Medusa Pendant” is the name of the custom luminaire which stems from the bell shape on a jellyfish. Considering these marine organisms have radial symmetry, it is important to incorporate balance within the fixture. Jellyfish have an organic curvaceous shape which will be mimicked in the overall structure of the pendant. Jellyfish have a translucent exterior which will be incorporated by clear glass surrounding a wood veneer core. With the materials selected for the Medusa Pendant, it will have a semi direct light emission which is influenced by bioluminescence.
Design Context
The inspiration is a jellyfish, a marine organism that emits its own light through bioluminescence. The pendent can be installed in any commercial or residential space adding a decorative luminaire that contributes to the ambient layer of light. The pendants design will be encompassed by its balance and translucence.
